High potential and gifted education
Some students learn faster and more easily than others. These students may shine in creativity, thinking, leadership or sport.
At our school, we identify and nurture student strengths from an early age, providing rich learning experiences that enable advanced learners to grow and thrive. Our school upholds high expectations and a commitment to equity in excellence, ensuring every student has meaningful opportunities to develop their potential across the four domains of creative, intellectual, physical and social-emotional learning. High potential and gifted education is embedded in quality classroom practice, whole-school initiatives and department-wide programs.

What is high potential and gifted education?
High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.
We do this through:
- effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration
- tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire
- access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.
Our high potential and gifted education opportunities
Our students engage with HPGE education in the classroom, in our school, and across NSW.
Academic competitions
Warwick Farm Public School provides enriching opportunities for high potential and gifted students through a range of academic competitions. Our students participate in public speaking competitions, the school spelling bee and the Mathscup, enabling them to extend their critical thinking and communication skills. These experiences promote confidence, perseverance and intellectual challenge. Through these platforms, students are encouraged to excel and celebrate their academic strengths.
Sporting Opportunities
Warwick Farm Public School offers a diverse range of sporting programs designed to foster teamwork, resilience, and healthy, active lifestyles. Our students proudly represent the school at zone and state athletics and cross-country carnivals, as well as participate in various zone sports teams. We also collaborate with local community organisations, including hosting sessions with the Wanderers clinics, to enhance students’ skills and enthusiasm for sport. Through these opportunities, students are encouraged to participate fully, strive for their personal best, and enjoy the many benefits of an active lifestyle.
Creative and Practical Arts
Warwick Farm Public School offers a rich range of Creative and Practical Arts opportunities that nurture and extend high potential and gifted learners. Students shine through LAaFF performances in dance, choir and drumming, while specialist dance instruction is provided through our partnership with Grove Nation. Art competitions and regular chances to showcase student artwork at school open days further celebrate creativity and artistic talent. These experiences support students to develop confidence, skill and a deep appreciation for the arts.
Mentoring and School Leadership
Warwick Farm Public School provides meaningful social and emotional development opportunities that support high potential and gifted students to lead, contribute and thrive. Our peer mentoring initiatives foster connection, empathy and responsible decision-making, while the Student Representative Council offers authentic leadership experiences. Through the SRC, students help shape fundraising priorities and select community organisations to support, including the NSW Children’s Hospital and World Diabetes Day this year. These opportunities build confidence, civic responsibility and a strong sense of belonging.
