Wellbeing

At our school, student wellbeing and learning go hand in hand. We want every student to feel safe, included and ready to learn. Whether your child needs help with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, we are here to help them thrive at school and in daily life.

Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL)

At our school, we proudly implement Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) to create a positive, safe, and respectful environment where every student can thrive. Through a consistent, whole-school approach supported by staff, students, and families, we set clear behavioural expectations that are explicitly taught and reinforced. This shared commitment empowers students to build the skills and attitudes essential for lifelong success.

Warwick Farm PBL Reward System

Warwick Farm Public School promotes positive behaviour through a consistent, school-wide approach using ClassDojo. Students progress through behaviour levels and receive certificates recognising their achievements. At the end of each semester, those who demonstrate exemplary behaviour in class and in the playground are invited to participate in a special reward day. This system encourages responsibility, reinforces positive choices and supports a respectful learning environment.

Wellbeing Programs at our school

Our school places a strong emphasis on students’ social and emotional development, using Berry Street strategies and Gotcha for Life protocols to build resilience, self-regulation and mental fitness. Students are supported with practical approaches in the classroom and playground to foster positive relationships. Weekly wellbeing lessons and daily morning circles ensure every child feels welcomed, acknowledged and ready to learn, while regular brain breaks help students maintain focus and regulate their emotions throughout the day.

Warwick

Warwick, our much-loved school mascot, plays an important role in promoting connection, belonging and school pride. Each fortnight, the class that demonstrates the strongest positive behaviour at assemblies earns the privilege of welcoming Warwick into their classroom, where he shares in their learning and daily routines. Students enjoy having him sit with them, join their activities and spend time with them in the playground. The host class also creates a slideshow titled “Warwick’s Adventures”, which is shared at assembly and posted on our school Facebook page, celebrating their achievements and strengthening our sense of community.

Berry Street

The Berry Street Education Model (BSEM) is a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach used in primary schools to support student wellbeing, engagement and learning. It equips educators with practical strategies to help all students build self-regulation, positive relationships, resilience and academic growth, and to create calm, supportive classroom environments.

Gotcha for Life

Gotcha4Life’s Mentally Fit Primary Schools program is a whole-school, preventative approach that strengthens wellbeing, resilience and connectedness across the school community. Across a three-year partnership, a Mental Fitness Educator works with school leaders to develop a tailored action plan and deliver workshops for students, staff and families. Teachers receive professional learning and resources to embed mental fitness practices in everyday teaching. The program helps schools build a consistent culture of positive mental health, strong relationships and proactive help-seeking.

Developing a sense of belonging through attendance awards

Regular attendance is essential for every child’s learning and wellbeing. At our school, we promote the message that attendance matters and encourage all students to be at school, on time, every day. To recognise this commitment, students with 100% attendance each fortnight are entered into a draw, with selected students earning a chance to spin the attendance wheel and win a prize. This initiative helps build strong learning habits, keeps students connected and supports their ongoing success.
